Frequently asked questions

What ATSBuddy is, in brief

  • ATSBuddy is a resume analysis / ATS scanning tool (like Jobscan), not a resume builder.
  • It gives a deterministic 0–100 ATS-friendliness score from your uploaded resume.
  • It can compare your resume against a job description for a semantic match with gaps and fixes.
  • New accounts get 100 free credits. A Scan costs 5 credits, a Match costs 10.
  • Credit packs: Boost (150 credits, $7) and Power (500 credits, $19). Credits never expire.
  • Supported uploads: PDF, DOCX, DOC, and images (PNG/JPG/WEBP).

Is ATSBuddy free?

Yes to start — new accounts get 100 free credits, enough for 20 scans. A scan costs 5 credits and a job match costs 10. When you run out you can buy more, and credits never expire.

Is ATSBuddy a resume builder?

No. ATSBuddy is a resume analysis and ATS scanning tool. It scores an existing resume for ATS-friendliness and shows how well it matches a job description — it does not build or host your resume.

How does an ATS read my resume?

An Applicant Tracking System parses your file into plain text and structured fields. Multi-column layouts, tables, images, and unusual fonts can be read out of order or dropped, which is why a clean single-column layout scores higher.

How is the ATS score calculated?

The score is deterministic — computed by rules, not an AI guess — so the same resume always gets the same score. It weighs parseability, contact block, standard sections, file format, dates, bullet usage, keywords, and length.

What file formats can I upload?

PDF, DOCX, DOC, and images (PNG, JPG, WEBP) up to 10 MB. Scanned or image-only files are read with OCR, though a text-based PDF or DOCX parses most reliably.

Do you store my resume?

Your resume is processed to produce your score and match, and we don't keep the raw file longer than needed to do that. Credits and results are tied to your account.
